Durbin, Redeux
In a statement released Friday, June 17, Dick Durbin (D), Illinois, released a written statement regarding his comments of the previous week:

“More than 1700 American soldiers have been killed in Iraq and our country’s standing in the world community has been badly damaged by the prison abuses at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo. My statement in the Senate was critical of the policies of this Administration which add to the risk our soldiers face.”
“I will continue to speak out when I disagree with this Administration.”
“I have learned from my statement that historical parallels can be misused and misunderstood. I sincerely regret if what I said caused anyone to misunderstand my true feelings: our soldiers around the world and their families at home deserve our respect, admiration and total support.”

So, let me read this to you in my own language.
"I didn't say what you think I said, and if I really did, I didn't really say it, you just interpeted it that way."
Senator Durbin, the American people aren't stupid, but you are if you think we're going to buy your statement of "regret."
Read this and understand, people. Durbin said what leftists truly believe. They BELIEVE George W. Bush is Hitler. And Stalin. And Pol Pot. Combined. Their political hatred of this man is beyond contempt.
Republicans are talking about censure of Durbin. I hope this is more than the standard lip service. This man needs to be disciplined in the methods available, especially since pistols at 40 paces is no longer an option. Think of the proud, brave men and women who are serving their country. What should THEY think if they heard a standing U.S. Senator say this on the floor of the senate? How does this help their morale and serve their interests?
Rediculous, Senator. Rediculous. I hope your constituents remember your comments on the next available election day.
You really disgust me.
